Methil

Geographical Position

56°.11 N 3°. 00 W North side of the River Forth about 20 miles East of the Forth Road Bridge.

Methil is an enclosed dock system. The dock gates are opened normally about 2-3 hours before high water until high water. They are operated by a private contractor, Briggs Marine.

Maximum size of vessel which can be handled is 102.10 metres loa x 14.47 metres beam x about 5.60 metres draft.

Vessels of up to about 3000 tonnes dwcc can be handled.

Water density: 1024 without guarantee

Vessels will normally anchor in Methil Roads to await the dock opening. The Pilot will board in Methil Roads.

Prevailing wind is SW. Manoeuvring at the dock entrance can be difficult during heavy weather or if wind shifts Easterly.


Berths/Craneage

Cargo operations are carried out in number 2 dock – Craneage 4 x Sennebogan 870 Mobile Material handlers are utilisied for general cargoes.

The height from waterline to top of quay is approx. 2.00 metres.

Normal working hours – dry cargo:

Mondays to Thursdays 0800 – 1700. Fridays 0800 – 1600. Meal break 1200 – 1300.

Overtime is available in the evenings, on nightshifts and at weekends.


Supplies (Bunkers / FW / Stores / Repairs)

Bunkers - Can be supplied using road cars. Prior agreement is required. Shipchandler, laundry, deck/engine repairs, nav aid repairs all available.Fresh Water – available ex quay.
