Kirkcaldy

Geographical Position

56°.07 N   3°. 09 W   North side of the River Forth, East of the Forth Road Bridge.

 

Kirkcaldy is a tidal harbour operating NAABSA berth.

 

Maximum size of vessel which can be handled is 85 metres loa x 14 metres beam x about 4.20 metres draft.    Any proposed vessel larger than this is dealt with on a case by case basis.

 

Water density : 1025 without guarantee

 

Vessels will normally anchor in Kirkcaldy Roads awaiting appropriate high water under direction of Forth Navigation.    The Pilot will board in the roads.

 

Prevailing wind is SW.  Manoeuvring at the dock entrance can be difficult during heavy weather or if wind shifts Easterly. Maximum wind speed 20 knots – final decision is made by Pilot.

 

Berths/Craneage

Cargo operations are carried out by Sennebogan  870 Mobile Material handlers operated by Stevedores Forth Ports.

 

 

Normal working hours – dry cargo:

Mondays to Fridays 0700 – 1800.  Meal break 1200 – 1300.

Overtime is available in the evenings, on nightshifts and at weekends.

 

Supplies (Bunkers / FW / Stores / Repairs)

Bunkers -  Can be supplied using road cars. Prior agreement is required.

Shipchandler, laundry, deck/engine repairs, nav aid repairs all available – notice required

Fresh Water – not available.
